ABOUT SAMTON DESIGN

SAMTON DESIGN is an architecture and energy performance consulting firm based in New York City.  Focused on high performance townhouse renovations and additions, specializing in the difficult task of making old buildings function like new.  Our aesthetic uses a simple, clean palette to highlight historic and personal details.  

Through the direct interaction between design and energy modeling, real energy efficiency gains can be realized. High performance design pays special attention to the operation of a building. Beyond energy efficiency, this design method creates a home that has superior indoor air quality, greatly reduces street noise, eliminates drafts, and allows zoned control of temperature, humidity, and air movement.

The firm's principal, Daniel Samton, R.A. LEED AP is licensed in New York. He holds a BS in environmental studies from the University of Vermont and a Master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation. Trained in Passive House design, we use PHPP energy modeling software to compare specific energy efficiency improvements, as well as analyzing more comprehensive whole building design concepts.
